After enjoying the delicious muffins I made the other day, I decided to use the leftover homemade applesauce to create a cake with chocolate.
This dessert could be considered one of the simplest gluten-free treats I have ever prepared, as all you need to do is combine the dry ingredients with the wet ones and bake it in the oven.
I opted for the wooden spoon and bowl technique because the recipe required minimal mixing.
The delightful scent of cinnamon and nutmeg filling the air is simply bringing the essence of autumn indoors and is a must try.
Ingredients:
150g gluten free flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
pinch of salt
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
250g applesauce
1 tablespoon oil
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
50g brown sugar
50g granulated sugar
70g chocolate chips
Preheat the oven to 180°C
Combine all the dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg) in a bowl and whisk until the mixture is smooth and free of lumps.
Combine the wet ingredients (applesauce, oil, egg, and vanilla) with the dry ingredients, mixing thoroughly and scraping the sides of the bowl to ensure even mixing.
Finally add the sugar and half of the chocolate chips into the bowl and mix.
Transfer the mixture into an oven-safe dish that has been either greased or lined with baking parchment.
Sprinkle the remainder of the chocolate chips on the top.
Bake in the oven for 30-35 minutes, ensuring to monitor it until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
Let the cake fully cool before cutting into it and ENJOY!
